Polish Sociological Association Congress: presentations by our team
On 16-19 September our team participated in 19th National Sociological Congress of Polish Sociological Association (PTS), held at University in Białystok. The event gathered together researchers from all over Poland. The theme of the congress was: Tamed risks? Contemporary challenges.
Dr. Isabela Kujawa and prof. Maciej Kowalewski presented a paper titled: „Farewell to coalitions? Contemporary Social Movements in the Perspective of Archival Practices in Poland and Germany” as part of thematic group centred around: Social movements in the era of polycrisis. In their presentation they focused on the role of protest archives in creating coalitions, discussing how people organizing or managing the protest archives are involved in cooperation between the movements.

Katarzyna Kordas presented her study in research group: Quantitative research in the digital era: challenges and innovations, with paper titled: „How popular is automatic Protest Event Analysis? Analysis of protest event database usage frequency based on Scopus.”. She presented how popular is automatic analysis protest events and how this tools support research about social movements, especially in the digital era. She also showed results about changing meaning database in quantitative research about social mobilization.
Dorota Jaśkiewicz (also a member of the project) presented her paper entitled Can an algorithm “play with the soul”? Artificial intelligence and the future of classical musicians in the Sociology of Art research group.
Participation in congress was opportunity for all members of research team to attend a lot of thematic group and symposiums about contemporary challenges.
