New article from our project: archives, activism, and coalition building
The latest issue of the journal *Archival Science* features an article titled “You can read their words and see they fight for the same things”: strategies of social movement archivists for coalition building, presenting another set of findings from our project.
Maciej Kowalewski and Izabela Kujawa analyze how social movement archives contribute to building a sense of belonging, shared memory, and cooperation among activists. Based on interviews with Polish and German archivists and experts, the article describes both the current landscape of social movements and the strategies used by archivists and archives to support coalition building.
The experiences of both groups indicate that building cooperation between movements is becoming an increasingly greater challenge. Read more: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10502-026-09532-1
