Maps of protest activism in the USA: Mapping American Social Movements Project
The Civil Rights and Labor History Consortium at the University of Washington is conducting an interesting project to map American protest movements. The project is creating and sharing free, interactive maps depicting the geography of social movements shaping US life and politics since the late 19th century, including radical, civil rights, labor and women’s movements.
With historical maps, you can explore which and where movements were active, showing patterns of their influence and persistence. With detailed geographic data, you can pinpoint places (cities and states) with high activity. More than 120 interactive maps, charts and tables are available.
